How can I convert .max to solidworks?

I have a .3ds file and I would like to edit some parts in solidworks, is there any way to convert the file?

Hello,
You need to open the file in 3ds max and have it exported as a STEP file.
Then you can work with the STEP file directly within Solidworks, if you also want feature history for the parts, you will need to do a feature recognition within SolidWorks to obtain the features history. But if you only want to do small changes I recommend that you work directly within SolidWorks on the STEP file and you make the changes directly on that existing mesh with no history.
