What is the best tool for modeling non-automotive objects if the goal is visualization not manufacturing?

Hi,
I like to model complex objects for visualization and rendering. Polygonal modeling is hard for me especially for products. It involves lots of supporting loops around the model and many times artifacts are not avoidable. I think the only way is nurbs.
Which software suits my goal? I can use Solidworks, Rhino but Alias is very frustrating for me. I need to have good reflections aroung my model so G2 is the way to go. Complex models like car engine cannot be modeled in Alias. What should I do?

I believe NX bridges the gap between sub-division and solid modeller really well. Look into "Realize Shape" and see if it's what you're looking for.

By the way, I feel that the best method for most complex shapes is a hybrid (solid & surface) technique, which allows you to capture the interfaces, associatively. Depending on the complexity, a surface model 'first' approach may be better, but you're likely going to tie it into solid features anyways. Heavily surfaced builds will push the skills gap, which is I feel, where the sub-d/solid modellers are truly bridging that gap.

How about some examples of models you're looking to build?
